Insyde™ Software Helps Deliver Thunderbolt™ 3 Technology to Intel® Skylake Notebooks
High-Performance I/O Technology Emerging in Mainstream Computing with Better Performance and New Capabilities on a Single USB Type-C Port
INTEL DEVELOPER FORUM – SHENZHEN CHINA, APRIL 13, 2016 –Insyde™ Software, a leading provider of UEFI BIOS, announced today that its flagship product “InsydeH2O” is now helping customers enable Thunderbolt 3 technology to ship on the industry’s latest Intel Skylake-based notebooks. Among leading OEMs, Acer’s Aspire R13 and the Predator 15/17 G9-591/791/792 product family are just a few examples of units shipping today with the latest Thunderbolt technology.
Working collaboratively with Intel, Insyde has helped enable new Thunderbolt 3 capabilities including advanced security, booting from Thunderbolt 3 and USB Type-C devices, hot-plugging, external graphics and more. Insyde’s customers first shipped Thunderbolt on designs featuring the 3rd generation of the Intel® Core™ processor family.
Thunderbolt is a revolutionary I/O technology that supports high-resolution displays and high-performance data devices through a single, compact port that carries both DisplayPort and PCI Express data. Thunderbolt 3 doubles the bandwidth of Thunderbolt 2 to 40 Gbps (5 GB/s), decreases power consumption by half, and can simultaneously drive two external 4K displays at 60 Hz or a single external 4K display at 120 Hz.
“Our customers continue to rely on InsydeH2O to enable their new designs with the latest computing technology,” said Aven Chuang, Senior Vice President and General Manager of the Personal Computing Group at Insyde Software. “Establishing early support for cutting-edge technologies such as Thunderbolt 3 means more opportunity for our customers to differentiate their products,” added Chuang.
Insyde Software will be showing demonstrations of this technology at its booth #527 during the Intel Developer Forum, occurring April 13-14, 2016 in Shenzhen, China.
